Kingman Area Literacy Program

Kingman Area Literacy Program (KALP)

Kingman Area Literacy Program provides literacy services with a volunteer-run staff of tutors. Students of all ages are welcome, and KALP is always in need of volunteer tutors.

KALP, with WELCOME’S sponsorship and fiscal support, remains dedicated to reduction of functional illiteracy in the greater Kingman area through services provided by trained volunteer tutors, at no cost to students, in order to improve quality of life, enhance employability and ultimately reduce poverty.
The all-volunteer tutor staff have provided Kingman area residents with no fee tutor services since September 2013.

We tutor in the development of basic literacy and math skills, GED preparation, and achievement of English proficiency. This program uses the phonics-based Laubach literacy method. All student & tutor materials are produced by New Readers Press and provided at no charge to either the student or the tutor.
