About our founder:

Kathryn Heidenreich was a community leader for much of her life. She and her husband moved to Kingman after her time in the military and they GOT INVOLVED!
Her original intent was to provide local seniors a place where they could gather, socialize, recreate, and also get involved in their community. They began in a borrowed barracks on Gates Avenue in 1968. In 1971 federal funding ran out and Kathryn kept the Center open on her own two days a week until the building sold in 1972. With the assistance of Mohave County and the City of Kingman, a new site was located on Airway. With the profits from the sale and other donations in December of 1972, this new location opened its door fully paid for.
The City and County have both provided funding over the years for the Director position and different Aides. Kathryn was the first paid Director beginning in 1973.
Over the years, with various donations, the programs and buildings have expanded dramatically. Always providing valuable programs and activities for personal enrichment, education, and recreation. Our goal is to continue these and more helping fight isolation and expand to reach adults of all ages.
